Beniourain rugs are likely the most comfortable rugs you'll ever encounter. They are made from 100% sheep wool and are 100% undyed. These heirloom rugs are made for those who appreciate truly the natural world. ... All Beniourain rugs share a signature style with geometric designs. It's a classic design for any room.

Beniourain weavers mainly used wool from a particular breed of sheep, and also used a specific knotting technique, which are further signs of an old original carpet. An old piece is likely to have a spontaneous and archaic lozenge-based design, often featuring irregularities and special design touches added by the weaver just for her carpet. A carpet woven by a woman for her own use would have been crafted with care and pride, using the best wool she could afford.

Originally, these Berber carpets were used as bedspreads or blankets and decorative floor coverings. They had a “loose structure” to conform to the shape of the body and thick soft pile would be a great way for them to keep warm in the harsh atmosphere of the Atlas Mountains.

Knots are tied in a very specific way and the pile is deep or shallow according to the purpose of the rug.

All Beniourain rugs share a signature style with geometric designs. It’s a classic design for any room. You can expect to see black or dark brown lines and shapes on a white or cream background. You’ll also see symbols. They tell true stories from each weaver’s life.
